NZME confirms Jono and Ben will go national, replacing Brodie and Fitzy at The Hits

NZME has confirmed plans to replace The Hits breakfast hosts Brodie and Fitzy with comedy duo Jono and Ben as the show goes national.

Jono Pryor and Ben Boyce, who left rival radio network MediaWorks last year, will take over The Hits Breakfast starting in April, when the show will also be broadcast to Christchurch, Kaikoura, Ashburton and Timaru.

Brodie Kane shared a message to fans on behalf of himself and Dave “Fizty” Fitzgerald today.

“Fitzy and I have loved waking up with the people of Christchurch every morning for the past two years, and while we will miss the yarns, laughs and banter, we have absolutely no doubt that will continue with two incredibly talented broadcasters in Jono and Ben,” he wrote.

The pair will leave The Hits Breakfast in March but are understood to still be in talks about other potential opportunities with NZME.

Auckland-based Hits breakfast hosts Toni Street and Sam Wallace will move to a new morning show at Coast, while their current co-host, Laura McGoldrick, will move into an afternoon presenting role at The Hits.
