The Bachelor is set to mature, in the US, at least, where a casting call has gone out for seniors no younger than 65 years old.
ABC reality television boss Robert Mills confirmed the new boomer Bachelor programme in a series of tweets this week.
“#Bachelornation give us your Grumpiest Old Men, give us your Goldenest Girls,” he said.
Supervising producer Lindsay Liles posted an ad, calling for people in their “golden years and looking for romance”.
The application page to be a participant didn’t reveal much about what the show would be like.
It asked more than 60 questions, including for the participant’s weight, why they were “genuinely looking for love”, if they had been bankrupt and if they had ever been married.
Although the team behind The Bachelor were leading the production, it wasn’t confirmed that the ‘boomer Bachelor’ would follow the same format as the popular dating show.
The application form was titled Senior Dating Show.
